Spelling Bee Practice
What's New?
The students are memorizing a poem, "If We Do Not Try". I hope this poem will provide them with motivation, encouragement, and confidence to set goals and push forward.
The short stories are coming along. The students have edited and revised their final drafts. They will begin typing the final copy in class this week.

There is a wonderful website --Spellingcity.com. Students are using this site to practice their Spelling Bee words. Who says learning can't be fun?

More News
Science --- We are studying about magnetism and electricity this term. After gathering information from text books, websites, and activities, the students are ready to apply their knowledge. They are experimenting using batteries and magnets for simple science projects.
Reading---We have completed two novels, The Sign of the Beaver and How to Eat Fried Worms. Both books were enjoyable, and the class worked hard to recognize the elements of literature and recognize the author's literary devices. Reading fluency and critical thinking have been the goals this term. The students read orally and participate in discussions about the text daily. The class is currently reading, "Kavik, The Wolf Dog" written by Walt Morey. The text is challenging, interesting and enjoyable.
